And the winner is....
May 25th 2008 00:29
The news sites have already reported it, they put it in the titles rather than the article itself, not even trying to protect those who may not want to know before the Eurovision final airs tonight. However, it is an event that we see long after the result is known so I will waste just a little more space (if you don't want to know who won, shield your eyes now) before announcing that the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 is
RUSSIA!!!!!!!!!!
I will comment further once I've seen the show tonight but from the little I saw, I didn't really like the song all that much and the countries were voting the usual way and giving votes to those who they consider 'allies' whether they deserved a vote or not, often leaving some of the better songs out of their top 10 completely.
Eurovision does come down to politics to an extent and I stand by what I say every year, Greece needs to make more friends in the EU! Not that they didn't do very well anyway, 3rd place, although they had been solidly in 2nd place until the last few votes came in. Ukraine then took second place, putting Greece into third. Way to go to our representative, Kalomoira. She has done Greece and Greeks around the world proud with her efforts!

You should be proud of Kalomira's achievement. I was a bit sceptical that she would do so well. She placed better than my favourite, Sirusho from Armenia. And Greece won only a few years ago...
How about the Russian song eh?? I like this one better than his other song 2 years ago...but as far as performance goes, he's not the best live singer.
