Eurovision 2010
June 2nd 2010 01:05
And the winner this year, Germany!
An odd choice, considering the silly lyrics of the song and Lena's annoying voice but to each his own and as always this contest is unpredictable.
I was surprised that France and the UK did not do better, I quite liked both of their entries. In comparison, I did not like Turkey's entry but that's not the type of music style I personally like. However, the Eurovision voters gave it second place. I might have given both 1st and 2nd place in this year's Eurovision contest a spot in the bottom 5, not top 5. Again, that's just my opinion, I expect something better to come from Eurovision but the voting is a head scratcher at times and then there is the issue of political voting.
I wondered why a country with a beautiful, rich culture such as Spain entered such a silly piece and enjoyed the lyre solo in Greece's entry. The song itself was okay but nothing to write home about. It probably deserved 6th place at least though, rather than 8th. Portugal, with its entry earned 18th place, a shame with their entrant being such a strong singer, she obviously has a great voice with a lot of range.
I liked several of the songs this year, odd considering that normally there are only a few decent songs in the contest. My favourites were France, the United Kingdom, Greece, Norway, Georgia, Romania and Israel.
My top 5 would have been:
Romania
Greece
France
United Kingdom
Georgia
Well, now onto next year's contest, to be held in Germany, Eurovision 2011!

I have to agree with your opinion on the Romanian entrant. I thought it deserved a higher spot/a win, but see, I did like Germany as well.
As far as accessible music, this year's songs were definitely radio worthy, but if you want to apply the title of "Europe's Most Beautiful Song", as the contest aims to find, then I guess "Satellite" can't really be considered beautiful in a traditional sense.
Great post!
