The BEST concert ever, it made me want more. It made me wish I had toured Australia with him and gone to the concerts in Melbourne and Adelaide too. I saw him live, one night only, in Sydney and the memories still blow me away. What a voice, what an atmosphere, what an amazing presence that man has!
The concert opened with Emeis Oi Duo San Ena to thunderous applause, the crowd loved it and spent the night singing along to Mihali's songs. I know I did! He doesn't tire, his voice carried out just as strongly at the end of the concert as it had in the beginning. He also has an ease with the crowd, often including them and making his own comments. He's blessed with an amazing voice, melodic and strong, and also an ear for music, writing most of his own music and playing the guitar and piano. I must say, I was waiting for him to pick up the guitar, which he did about mid-way through the show. It's something I was expecting and looking forward to and he didn't disappoint.
Stand out songs were Xeria Psila (the crowd went wild!) and he repeated this one several times, just the chorus, knowing the crowd love it and sing along. Others were Ola i tipota, Oneiro Zo and Horis Anapnoi, all high energy songs with great participation from the audience. The ballads were just as popular, songs like O Vythos Sou, To Party, Na Eisai Ekei and Den Feugo. Notably missing was An Mou Tilefonouses, Omorfi Mera and Na Meineis Edo. I would have loved to hear those songs live. I guess he had to make some choices though, he wouldn't be able to sing each song he's ever released obviously!
My personal favourite which I can play on repeat many times without tiring of it, Den Feugo, was the highlight of the evening for me. Shortly after he'd picked up the guitar, I heard the opening notes of this song. Hearing it live was incredible, I had no words. I was engrossed in the song and his voice.
This was one concert I did not want to end, and I have plans to try to catch his shows as many times as possible next time I visit Greece.
I will allow my fangirl side to come out just a little to say that as usual, he looked very handsome! Gorgeous actually. *faints* He came out in a black suit at the beginning, changing into jeans and a tshirt about half-way through the show. HOT! He's got the looks, the voice and he's also quite low-key, no reports of engaging in celebrity antics or having a different girlfriend every week. He's had a long-time girlfriend for about 5 years, though there are some reports of a rift between the two lately, nothing has been confirmed.
I use the words amazing and incredible often when describing Mihali and his songs but this is one singer I can truly say I am a fan of. I appreciate his music and am thankful I got to see him live in concert. Thank you Mihali and come back soon! Australia already misses you!
